What we think is important

From the very beginning of avantia's short life we have lived by a very simple philosophy.

"Just because some things have always been done a certain way, it doesn’t mean they have to remain like that."

For example, when it comes to personal lines insurance, the market has for many years strived to find ways of discriminating and giving a different price to individuals based on their perceived risk. It makes perfect sense.

However, in order to simplify underwriting models and reduce risk further, this has tended to result in some people being priced out of the market or even prevented from getting cover at all. We don’t believe that this is the only way to approach the market.

Our belief is that being inclusive is an equally valid approach and one which will change the way customers view us and the rest of the insurance market. Rather than turning people away, we have set our stall out to embrace them.
