We spoke to our Head of Operational Change, Kennedy Round, and asked her some key questions about her role.
1) How do you measure the impact of transformational change programmes?
The specifics may vary, but broadly, any change should consider its impact on your customers, your business, and your people. Start by understanding the “do nothing” state before implementing changes. This baseline helps you monitor progress and adapt quickly if things aren’t going as expected. Remember, continuous monitoring is key to ensuring the change is beneficial.
2) How would you overcome resistance to transformational change within an organisation?
Resistance is natural, but it can be overcome by bringing people on the journey with you. Avoid working in silos; communicate early and often about what you are doing, why it’s important, and how they can get involved. Be prepared to change your mindset, as no matter how many angles you consider, someone will always throw a curveball. Embrace these challenges as opportunities to grow and adapt.
3) What are your top tips for leading successful transformational change programmes from start to finish?
Know Your Goals: It sounds simple, but it’s easy to get caught up in the activities needed to deliver and forget why you’re doing it. Keep your objectives clear and front of mind.
Stop and Learn: It’s okay to make mistakes. The greatest benefit is learning from them. Take the time to reflect on what you’d do differently next time before moving on to the next exciting project.
Communicate: You can deliver the best change, but it won’t matter if nobody knows about it. Communicate what you are doing, how it benefits others, and how they can get involved early on.
